As mentioned previously, Blue Cedars is at the forefront of implementing the Government’s ‘Valuing People’ White Paper.

The White Paper, ‘Valuing People: A New Strategy for Learning Disability for the 21st Century’ was published in March 2001 and was the first White Paper in 30 years to address learning disabilities. It set out an ambitious and challenging programme of action for improving services, based on four key principles. These are: civil rights, independence, choice and inclusion. Valuing People took a life-long approach, beginning with an integrated approach to services for disabled children and their families and then providing new opportunities for a full and purposeful adult life.

It has cross-Government backing and its proposals are intended to result in improvements in education, social services, health, employment, housing and support for people with learning disabilities and their families and carers.

This is the foundation stone upon which Blue Cedars bases its ethos and which all our dedicated staff are working towards implementing in the care and development of our service users.
